Marilyn Taylor McDowell has been bringing children and books together for more than twenty-five years, volunteering as a school librarian, a cultural arts chairperson, and a storyteller. Once the proprietor of a children’s bookshop, she took on the role of teacher, creating and teaching writing workshops for elementary school age children, visiting classrooms from elementary school to the college level and connecting with community-based initiatives to help parents learn to read with their children.

Marilyn has lived up and down the West Coast and the East Coast from the Mid-Atlantic to New England. She happily makes her home in Vermont where she writes stories, tends organic gardens, and volunteers in her community. Her debut mid-grade novel, Carolina Harmony, was released March 10, 2009 by Delacorte Press. Carolina Harmony is now available in paperback. Marilyn is very proud that it is a Yearling book. (Look for the little horse on the book cover.) She is currently revising her second contracted mid-grade novel and is looking forward to an official publication date.
